Maranatha Christian Academy was established in 1973 to meet the educational, social and spiritual needs of the children of Calvary Chapel of Costa Mesa, pastored by Brian Brodersen. MCA is a ministry of CCCM building up Christian leaders in mind, body and soul through biblical truth, character development, and strong academic pursuits, enabling students to serve and enjoy Christ and their community. All of our classes are taught by teachers that love Jesus, love teaching, and love their students. It is our desire to build a solid foundation of knowledge while also ministering to the needs of the whole child.
Below you will find some basic information about our school. We encourage you to apply online and make it a matter of prayer. Calvary Chapel Schools seeks students who will benefit from an education taught by teachers who are knowledgeable and passionate about their field of study, compassionate and excited about the students they teach and substantial in their Christian faith, thought and character. Candidates for admission are considered on their academic record, discipline records, standardized test scores, evident enthusiasm for learning and parental support of the vision and mission of Calvary Chapel Schools. All students must have a desire to attend Calvary Chapel Schools and agree to honestly and wholeheartedly apply themselves to the study of God's Word. They also agree to be courteous and respectful to their peers, staff, faculty and others. Calvary Chapel Schools reserves the right to select students and families based on their worldview, lifestyle choices, academic performance and personal qualifications including the willingness to cooperate with the Administration and abide by the school policies.
Applications: Online applications are available now. The link to apply is at the bottom of this page. Applicants are required to upload a copy of their most current report card, a copy of their most recent standardized test scores, and behavior report. If you need assistance with uploads, you may bring your student’s report card, standardized test scores, and behavior report to MCA School Office Building J Room 100, or fax it to us at (714) 751-3718. Incomplete applications will not be processed.
Requirements: In accordance with California state law, kindergarten applicants must be age 5 by September 1, 2019. Information on required immunizations for all students is available at http://www.shotsforschool.org/. Documented proof of immunization is required for admission. California law requires a health examination for all children entering 1st grade. Acceptance Process: Once a completed application is received, the application will be reviewed and evaluated. The sooner the application is processed, the sooner an admission decision can be reached.
Open House: All are welcome to visit classrooms at our Open House on Thursday, March 14, 2019, from 5:00 PM-7:00 PM.
School Year: We have a traditional school year, September - June.

Enrollment Fee: The yearly enrollment fee of $415 per student includes materials, yearbook, and curriculum. No portion of this fee is refundable.
Book Fee: There is no book fee for grades Kindergarten - 6th.
Curriculum: MCA uses a Christian curriculum called ABEKA and additional supplemental materials. Kindergarten students learn to read by using this structural, sequential phonics based curriculum. There is no entrance testing.
Extended Day Care: Offered Monday through Friday before school 7:00 AM - 8:00 AM. and after school 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM. Day Care fees are $3.00 for mornings and $10.00 per day after school or $5.00 per day through a monthly contract.
Car Pools: Parents interested in carpooling may submit an information card. The car pool information cards are indexed by city and made available to parents to refer to in the elementary school office. Parents may then make their own contacts and arrangements.
School Lunch Program: Parents may purchase lunch for their student(s) through FACTS before 9:00 AM to be included in the lunch count for that day. Milk may be purchased separately. Lunch fees are $3.00 for kindergarten and $4.00 for 1st through 6th grades.
Dress Code: Students are required to wear collared polo shirts and pants. Please refer to the Parent/Student Handbook for details.
Discipline: The school uses a warning/natural consequence/detention system for correcting behavioral problems. Repeat offenders will be sent to the Principal or Vice Principal for prayer, exhortation and if necessary, suspension or expulsion from school.
Spiritual Life: Bible study and prayer are encouraged and each class begins in the morning with a devotion time. During the school day, students are encouraged to seek the Lord’s will in every situation in their lives. Children attend chapel weekly and have a worship time each week.
