BOOK FAIR
Helping kids become readers is not just about opening a book; it’s about opening the right book—the book that gets them so excited to read they can’t put it down. Why is this important? Because reading for fun has real and long-lasting benefits that can help your kids do better in school and in life. How can you motivate your child to read more? Here’s how:
- Be a good reading role model. Let your kids see you read.
- Have a collection of books in the home. Update it often to keep up with your child’s changing tastes and reading skills.
- Shop our school’s Book Fair and allow your kids to choose their own books.
Our Scholastic Book Fair is a reading event that brings the books kids want to read right into their school. Please join us at our Book Fair and be a part of your child’s reading journey! Stay tuned for details and times for the 2022-2023 school year.
BIBLE BOWL
Each Spring elementary students look forward to a traditional event called the Bible Bowl. Right before Christmas Break, a Book of the Bible is chosen for the Bible Bowl competition. Elementary students study the Bible Book until a grade-level test is administered in late January. The student earning the highest Bible Bowl test score from each class will represent their class at our Annual Bible Bowl competition.
The Bible Bowl competition pits five teams against each other. Each team consists of a first grader, second grader, third grader, fourth grader, and fifth grader. The same Book of the Bible is used and more in-depth and higher-level questions test student knowledge. Points are awarded for correct answers, with the winning team receiving prizes.
The Bible Bowl is fun for the student body as classmates wear the same colored t-shirts and display banners encouraging their class representative. This traditional event serves as a hallmark event for our elementary school.
FAMILY LEGACY DAY
During this time in history, the traditional family unit is facing increased pressure to maintain unity and Biblical values. In appreciation of our families, Calvary Chapel Elementary School students present a tribute to Family Legacy every May, called Family Legacy Day.
Elementary students from Kindergarten through the fifth grade prepare special songs months in advance of the event to sing for their special family members. Family Legacy Day is held in the church sanctuary where over one thousand families and guests gather for this special musical celebration.
